Poster Series

The posters of V’Shinantam Year One divide into several series. The first series deals with the books and sources of the Torah Shebichtav and Torah Sheb’al Peh:

These first two posters display the books of the Tanach in their three categories, and the Masorah from Sinai through the period of the Zugot.

The next three posters display the division systems of Chumash and Mishnah:

The next series is used to teach the generations of the Tannaim, and the locations of the Sanhedrin:

The Teacher Guide explains when and how to use these posters effectively.

The next poster is used to teach the holy days:

And the final two posters are used to teach the fourth chapter of B’rachot:

All in all, the V’Shinantam Year One posters provide a unique learning environment and a visual stimulus for what is learned in class. They can all be purchased individually in our Store, but come as part of the Teacher Package when purchased by schools or other facilitators.

MishnahSearch Cards Learning Center

Every classroom is blessed with a number of gifted children who need enrichment. The truth is, however, that every child needs enrichment at times, and the frontal classroom setting is not built to provide the kind of individualized enrichment required.

For this purpose, Bonayich developed the Mishnah Search Cards Learning Center as part of the V’Shinantam Program. This remarkable learning center consists of three copies each of 63 search cards, arranged in five increasing levels of difficulty. Each card asks of the child to search and find a given mishnah, and answer questions on several levels: knowledge questions about the location of the mishnah, comprehension questions about the content of the mishnah, skills’ questions about applications of skills learned in class to the mishnah in question, and open values questions that allow the child to express him/herself freely on matters of thought and values. The questions themselves are graded and marked by color to allow the teacher to individualize the center for various children: the teacher can ask students to answer only the questions marked in green, or the questions marked in green and yellow, or even those marked in red. As the year progresses, individual children can received greater and greater levels of challenge appropriate for their developing capabilities.

The teacher/facilitator uses the Center as an individualized work center for up to three children at a time, as there are three copies of each card. Each child works at his/her own pace, recording the answers to the cards in a separate notebook for review by the teacher. The cards are integrated with the skills taught in the program, combined with precious content in matters not covered in the regular material learned in class. The various cards may also serve as the basis for special projects by the students.

The center looks like this:

The cards in the Mishnah Search Card Learning Center are color coded for their level of difficulty. Here is a sample card from the “B” cards, front and back:

Bonayich is now in development of a similar learning center on the Tannaim, to complement the V’Shinantam Program yet further. The Tannaim learning center is scheduled for publication in the Summer of 2012.

Teaching Aids

Many lessons in the V’Shinantam Program are augmented by special teaching aids and accessories that include activity cards, signs, games, puppets and special projects. These aids and accessories are packaged in a beautiful kit that looks like this:

The teaching aids divide into “S” packets for the skills’ lessons, “C” packets for lessons on the Moadim, and “B” packets for lessons on B’rachot. They are numbered “S-1”, “S-2”, etc. and are easy to find and use. The Teacher Guide explains how to use each aid in the lesson, so it’s virtually impossible to go wrong!

Smartboard Materials

With the advent of classroom technology, and especially the widespread use of Smart Boards in class, Bonayich moves to stay abreast of school needs. The entire V’Shinantam Year One Program is now augmented by beautiful Smart Board materials – completely interactive, and atuned specifically to the lessons of the program. The Smart Board materials were developed in partnership with P.I.L., a well know developer of computerized learning games and aids in Jewish Studies. Schools access the material from a special website:

after purchasing the material and receiving their code for entry. The entry page of the site for the materials looks like this:

In addition to all of the above teaching aids and materials, Bonayich offers ongoing professional development for teachers of its programs. See our Professional Development Center for details.
